Rajasthan polls: In Jaipur, candidates spent more on tea, snacks, e-rickshaws | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: A better of election expenses made by the candidates of constituencies of Jaipur city had been spent on tea, snacks and vehicles for campaigns, especially the humble e-rickshaws.
According to the figure till November 17, most candidates have spent their maximum money to hire vehicles and together they had spent over lakhs to take e-rickshaws on rent.
“As per the figure available, Congress candidate from the Sanganer, Pushpendra Bharadwaj, had spent Rs 50,000 on hiring e-rickshaws for election campaigns. Besides, he had spent Rs 2.88 lakh to hire an election office till date and Rs 100 per day to procure tea and snacks for his party workers. In all, he had spent Rs 19 lakh till date,” said an election official.
Officials stated, as far candidates of city-based constituencies are concerned, Bharadwaj had incurred the maximum amount of expense. While his party colleague and candidate of the Malviya Nagar constituency, Archana Sharma, had spent lowest still now. Till November 17, Sharma had spent only Rs 35,000.
In the Opposition camp, Bhajanlal Sharma, BJP candidate from Sanganer constituency, had spent most. Till November 17, he had incurred an expense of Rs 5.70 lakh. On which, he had spent Rs 15,000 a day on office rent, Rs 5,500 on lunch and dinner till date and Rs 300 a day on tea and snacks.
On the other hand, Kalicharan Saraf from Malviya Nagar constituency had spent only Rs 3.46 lakh till November 17, the lowest among BJP candidates of city-based constituencies. Out of this Rs 3.46 lakh, he had spent Rs 2,500 on vehicles, especially on renting e-rickshaws, 50 garlands daily and Rs 120 a day on tea and snacks.
“We have not received the election expenses of Jhotwara BJP candidate Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore. The Congress candidate of this constituency, Abhishek Choudhary, had stated to incur Rs 2.26 lakh till November 17 on election expenses,” the official signed off.
