Rajasthan reports 100 Covid deaths in 5 days | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The state reported 105 Covid deaths in the past five days. On Thursday, 20 persons lost their lives to the virus taking the state’s casualty count to 9,181.
Eight deaths were reported in Jaipur, two in Jhunjhunu and one each was reported in Kota, Nagaur, Sikar, Alwar, Bhilwara, Dungarpur, Hanumangarh, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Karauli.
In the last 24 hours, the state reported 9,227 new cases taking the overall tally to 11,71,429.
Active cases in the state decreased from 92,692 to 87,268. Jaipur reported 2,075 cases. Active cases decreased from 24,832 to 23,473 in 24 hours.
On January 23, the state had 93,442 active cases, highest on a given day in the current surge.
More persons recovered than new infections reported in 24 hours. According to the health department’s figures, 16,087 persons recovered in the past 24 hours, much higher than 9,227 new infections. A health department official said since more persons recovered from Covid than the new infections, active cases have decreased. In Jaipur, 3,306 persons recovered, while 2,075 tested positive in 24 hours.
Jaipur is worst affected due to Covid, but cases in Alwar are also increasing significantly. Alwar reported 1,192 new infections. Jaipur and Alwar collectively reported 35.4% of the state’s cases.
While taking measures for containing spread of the virus, the health department is focusing equally on vaccination. The state witnessed 17,529 doses being administered in the 15-17 age category. Currently, 61.5% of the eligible 15-17 age category children have been vaccinated with the first dose. Besides, 27,440 elderlies with comorbidities, 9,351 healthcare workers and 27,440 frontline workers received booster doses on Thursday.
