“We have seen that most of the victims of road accidents are young people from families with poor financial backgrounds with most of the victims being two-wheeler riders. Our aim is to prevent each and every death due to accident in the state and this institute will help in that. Regular trainings will be conducted to spread awareness about road safety issues to all stakeholders. People have to understand that helmets, seat belts are not burdens but safety measures that save lives,” said Ola.
Officials said that since August 2022, the traffic department has monitored 40 police stations across the state where over 20 deaths due to accidents were recorded between January-July and after monitoring the figure had come down from 4-5 deaths per month per police station to 2.5 deaths. tnn
