Crocodile Crosses Road Near Sabji Mandi In Kota, Video Goes Viral | Jaipur News

KOTA: A crocodile about three-and-a-half feet in length appeared on the Commerce College main road in Talwandi area of Kota city on Tuesday night, and crossed the road as passersby stood and watched and some recorded a video on their mobile, then disappeared down into a drain.
A 40-second video clip soon after went viral on social media, garnering comments such as this one by Shantanu Manna on his Twitter handle: “Saheb ko milne ja raha hoga, aakhir unke bachpan ka dost hai”.

As the city is located on the banks of the Chambal River where a ghariyal sanctuary has been established, crocodiles tend to move onto the land and during the monsoon are sometimes swept towards residential areas.
The crocodile on Tuesday night was spotted near the sabji mandi crossing on Commerce College road. Passersby, including those on vehicles, on both sides of the road stopped and watched awestruck till it crossed the road and vanished from sight.
The scene of traffic and pedestrians standing still while the crocodile in their middle gracefully crossed the road much amused and thrilled social media watchers.
At least 57 incidents of appearance of crocodiles in residential localities were reported last year in Kota and the city witnesses such incidents on average 50-60 times in a year, deputy conservator of forest, Kota, Jairam Pandey said.
Rescue teams stay on alert mode round the clock and on receiving information of a crocodile seen in a residential area, rush to the spot for rescue, he added.
