Based on the discussion and suggestions received in the over three-hour-long meeting, the home department will now release guidelines.
JAIPUR: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday said that the state government will impose more curbs to check the spread of coronavirus in Jaipur as the situation may turn explosive. Of 963 active cases on Friday, 613 are in Jaipur.
At a review meeting which was telecast live on social media platforms, he directed officials to increase testing in the capital. Itwas also suggested to conduct door-to-door surveys to identify people suffering from influenza like symptoms, increase testing and vaccinate the remaining people on a war footing.
It was informed at the meeting that 98. 5% of the people in Jaipur received the first dose of vaccination, while the second dose has been given only to 68% of the eligible population. The meeting said unvaccinated people will not be allowed to venture out of their homes after January 31 while more curbs on the anvil from January 3.
Ministers, including medical and health minister Parsadilal Meena, suggested exten- ding the winter vacation of schools, while closing of religious places and further curbs on gathering in weddings were also recommended. They have also suggested testing of all passengers coming from foreign countries instead of sample testing.
The meeting expressed concern that from December 20-30, the number of cases has reported a six-fold increase in the capital. Cases increased from 83-521 in10 days, while the sampling has remained stagnant at about 4,000. Gehlot questioned the Jaipur CMHO why sampling has not been increased despite a rising number of positive cases in the past 15 days.
He said the number of samples collected daily in Jaipur is more or less constant, whereas the number of positive cases is continuously increasing.
In his direction, the official said the sampling will be increased to 8,000 to 10,000 per day.
Already the government had announcedrestrictions on marriages and cinema halls etc. Marriages with a maximum of 200 people while cine- ma halls could function only at 50% capacity for vaccinated people from January 3. The meeting also suggested strict enforcement of Covid appropriate behaviour joint teams and beat constables. District Collector Antar Singh Nehra RAS officers have been given the responsibility as Incident Commanders by dividing the city into 23 zones for effective monitoring. Dr Sudhir Bhandari, principal of SMS Medical College, informed that according toa recent sero-survey held in 14 districts, 91% of adults and 74% of children were found to have antibodies which will help the state to keep the situation under control.
