Rajasthan twins die in similar manner 900km apart | Jaipur News
Brothers Sumer and Sohan Singh were cremated on Thursday in their native village of Saarno Ka Tala on the same pyre, symbolising a tragic end to the happy coincidence of their birth as twins two-and-a-half decades ago.
Police said Sumer was working in Gujarat’s textile city while Sohan was preparing for the Grade II teacher recruitment test in Jaipur.
“Their family reported that Sumer was on the phone when he slipped and had a fatal fall on Wednesday night. Sohan fell into a water tank early Thursday, soon after returning home to the news of his twin’s death. We aren’t ruling out suicide in the second case,” SHO Surendra Singh of Sindhari police station in Barmer said.
Sohan, the elder of the twins, had stepped out to fetch water from a tank around 100 metres from his village home but never returned. Family members found him in the tank and took him to a nearby hospital, where he died. Villager Pokar Ram said the twins, who had two other siblings, shared a typically strong bond since childhood. “Sumer wasn’t good in studies, but he encouraged Sohan to study hard. He moved to Surat to work so that he could earn enough to help his twin study and get a teacher’s job. “
