Power Crisis: ‘Power crisis’ nearly mars polling in Jaisalmer village | Jaipur News

Jaisalmer: In Tejmalta village of Jaisalmer, poor and erratic power supply has been a long-running problem. Villagers’ pleas for a solution have been met with apathy so far, due to which they decided to boycott the poll Saturday.
There were about 985 voters at booth number 369 of Tejmalta and till 1 o’clock, not a single vote was cast. It was only after senior officials of the district administration rushed there and pacified the people that polling finally started.
Sitting MLA Ruparam Meghwal of Congress is pitted against two-time former legislator Chhotu Singh Bhati of BJP from the Jaisalmer assembly constituency.
The power problem in Tejmalta is so serious that there was no electricity supply even at the polling station in the village. According to the locals, the village has three phase connections through tube wells, due to which only 4-5 hours of power supply is available in a day. The villagers have been demanding a single-phase connection for a long time.
