Randhawa: Court Fumes At Kota Sp For Not Lodging Fir Against Randhawa | Jaipur News
KOTA: A court here on Friday rapped the local police for failing to file an FIR against state Congress in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa in connection with remarks he allegedly made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March.
The additional chief judicial magistrate (ACJM) court-6 has asked Kota city SP and Mahaveer Nagar police station circle inspector to give reason as to why proceeding for contempt of court should not be initiated against them. The court asked the two to appear before it with a reply on Saturday.
Since Mahaveer Nagar police station did not lodge an FIR against Randhawa even after four days of the court order, BJP MLA Madan Dilawar, through his counsellor Manoj Puri, filed an application on Friday. The application stated that the FIR had not been registered under political pressure and that it was contempt of court. Dilawar had initially complained on March 18 but the police did not register a case, he then moved the court on May 3.
Randhawa, in a party workers’ meeting in Jaipur on March 13 this year had targeted PM, BJP and their ties with Adani and Ambani. He said, “If Adani and Ambani have to be removed, Modi should be finished first…if Modi is finished, the nation will be saved else the nation will be ruined,” said counsellor Puri while quoting Randhawa.
BJP state general secretary and MLA from Ramganjmandi, Kota, Madan Dilawar had filed a complaint against Randhawa in Mahaveer Nagar police station on March 18 and demanded to lodge a case against Randhawa under Sections 153, 153 (B), 124 (A), 295 (A), 504, 506, 511 of IPC.
While hearing the complaint, the court had sought report SP (city), who on May 15 submitted that the matter did not fall under Kota city’s jurisdiction as the remark was made in Jaipur. Dilawar’s counsellor argued that Randhawa’s remark, though made in Jaipur, was apt to affect Kota as well as the entire nation and was also inflammatory and could lead to violence anywhere across the country.
Taking note of counsellor’s argument, the court observed that a case in criminal matter could be lodged anywhere and instructed city police on the same day (May 15) to lodge an FIR against Randhawa and to submit the report after investigation.
