Right to Health Bill has been ‘revised’ to fulfil our demands: Rajasthan private hospitals | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) against RTH, a body of private hospitals protesting against the Right to Health (RTH) Bill, claimed on Saturday that the state government has prepared a revised draft of the RTH Bill, in which provisions which they had termed ‘unconstitutional’ have been removed.
Announcing postponement of their protest to the time this Bill is tabled in the ongoing state assembly session, JAC threatened to re-launch a state-wide protest if the “revised” RTH bill is not tabled during the ongoing assembly session.
The JAC had earlier postponed its protest, which included boycott of the state government’s health schemes in private hospitals, till March 10 after meeting with chief minister Ashok Gehlot in February.
“We have postponed our protest and not withdrawn it completely. We have been assured by the state government’s committee under the chief secretary that all our demands have been fulfilled and a revised draft of the RTH Bill has been prepared. After the assurance, we have given our nod for the RTH Bill to be tabled in the ongoing state assembly session,” said Dr Sunil Chugh, chairperson, JAC.
The JAC has taken the decision even though a section of private hospitals is still adamant on “No to RTH”. The JAC pointed out that it has taken the decision keeping in mind the interest of patients and private hospitals, on the assurance of the state government that the “revised” RTH Bill will be different from the draft tabled in September 2022 in the state assembly.
JAC said the revised RTH Bill will be submitted to the select committee formed by the Assembly after the protest by private hospitals launched in September 2022. The committee will take the final decision on RTH before it is tabled in the Assembly.
On social platforms, it is now being circulated that the demand of private hospitals has been accepted by the state government.
Social activists demanding an RTH Act in the state have expressed disappointed over reports of revision.
