Right To Health Bill protest: Rajasthan doctors to hold rally in Jaipur, observe ‘Black Day’ today | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: Doctors will hold a massive rally in the city on Monday in protest against the Right to Health (RTH) Bill. Indian Medical Association (IMA) has already declared Monday as ‘Black Day’, which will be observed not only in the state but across the country.
The situation will get even worse for patients on Wednesday as 14,000 government hospital doctors under the All Rajasthan In Service Doctors Association (ARISDA) will completely boycott work, crippling healthcare services in the state.
As of now, government hospital doctors in district hospitals, sub-district hospitals and community health centres are providing treatment.
Docs at govt-run hosps to shun work on Wednesday
Senior professors and senior resident doctors in hospitals attached to government medical colleges are also working. Private hospitals and resident doctors in hospitals attached to medical colleges have been on strike for eight days.
“We are continuing our boycott of work for two hours. We have stopped providing private healthcare facilities after our government duty. Now, we will boycott the work for a full day on Wednesday,” said Dr Ajay Chaudhary, president, ARISDA.
Doctors from Jaipur as well as from other parts of the state are expected to participate in the rally on Monday.
Resident doctors will also continue with their strike. “Our strike will go on until the RTH BIll is completely withdrawn by the state government,” said Dr Chitresh Shekhawat, spokesperson, Jaipur Association of Resident Doctors.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister’s Office released a statement on Sunday hoping that the talks between the government and the doctors would resume soon. “Even today he has appealed to the doctors that the strike is not in the public interest from a humanitarian point of view. The CM is reaching Jaipur in the evening (Sunday) and will meet the protesting doctors again on the matter as soon as possible,” the statement said.
