JAIPUR: For the engineers of the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA), who are involved in the Jhotwara Railway Over Bridge project, the most challenging part of the work would start now as they will have to work in the middle of a running traffic.
The engineers have to construct the surface of the remaining portion of the under-construction ramp, between the Lata Circle and Niwaru Road and exit. Once the new ramp gets fully constructed the engineers have to remove the divider between the two flanks of the old bridge and convert the entire road of the old bridge into Lata Circle-bound flank.
“All our pillars for the new ramp have been constructed. Now we have to lay down the surface. The most challenging part is that our engineers and workers have to work in the midst of the huge traffic over the ROB. In no way, we can stop the traffic over ROB even for 10 minutes,” said a JDA engineer.
JDA is constructing a three-lane ramp from Lata Circle to Chomu Circle adjacent to the old existing ROB. The width of both lanes of the existing ROB together, without the divider, is equivalent to a three-lane road. So, after completion, the three-lane would cater to the Panipench-bound traffic, while both the lanes of existing ROB would together cater to the Lata Circle-bound traffic.
Another important addition to this project is a ramp from the Khatipura Road that would connect the Panipench-bound under construction ramp. Traffic from the Khatipura Road intending to go to Niwaru Road or to Panipench-side can take this ramp to reach the ROB without going till the Jhotwara crossing.
“The construction work for this ramp is completed and this ramp has already been connected to the under construction main ramp of the ROB,” an engineer added.
All engineers are hopeful that they would be able to complete the project by February 2024. “There are no more acquisition hurdles. More than 85% of the construction work has been completed and the rest 10 to 15% would move smoothly,” said another engineer.
