Heat Wave Revives In Raj, Barmer Hottest At 41.5°c | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: Heat wave conditions revived in the state on Sunday with the majority of places recording a rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures. Barmer was the hottest in the state with a maximum temperature of 41.5°C, the Met office said.
Attributing the rise in temperatures to active northerly winds and vanishing of factors such as western disturbances and anti-cyclonic circulation, the Jaipur Met office said that temperatures will further rise in the state in the coming days.
People in Jaipur woke up to a comparatively warmer morning as a minimum temperature of 24.4 °C was recorded in the city. It was followed by a sultry afternoon with a maximum temperature of 38.6°C along with humidity of 60%. In the afternoon, roads were empty as people confined themselves to their homes and offices. Though partially cloudy sky would be witnessed on Monday, mercury will continue to take an upward swing, Met office said.
Barmer was followed by Phalodi (Jodhpur) where a maximum temperature of 41.2°C was recorded, Dholpur 41.1°C, Jaisalmer 40.8°C, Churu 40.5°C, Jalore and Dungarpur 40.3°C each, Bikaner 40°C, Jodhpur 39.8°C, Alwar 39.5°C, Bhilwara 39°C, Pilani(Jhunjhunu) 38.5°C, and 37.5°C in Sikar. In this season so far, many places witnessed maximum temperatures at or above 40.0 °C for the first time.
“There is possibility that the maximum temperature at places in Bikaner and Jodhpur divisions will go above 44°C,” said the Met office.
