RTH: Private hospitals in Rajasthan to stay shut today | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Private hospitals across Rajasthan will remain shut on Sunday to oppose the ‘Right to Health‘ (RTH) Bill in its present form.
Private hospitals and diagnostic centres will remain closed from 8am to 8pm on Sunday, but emergency services will not be affected, said Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Society secretary Dr Vijay Kapoor.
The move aims at building pressure on the select committee on the ‘right to health’ comprising MLAs from Congress and BJP, which is meeting on January 23 to discuss the bill.
The decision for a token one-day strike on Sunday was decided at a meeting attended by representatives of IMA’s state branch, Jaipur Medical Association, Hospital Board of India, Jaipur Association of Resident Doctors, Medical Practitioners Society, and Medical Colleges Teachers Association, Rajasthan, on Saturday.
“We will observe a token strike on Sunday as the Assembly’s winter session is beginning from Tuesday and the government plans to table this bill in it,” said Dr Anurag Sharma, secretary of Jaipur Medical Association.
