Rth: Rth Strike Over, Private Hospitals Start Scanning Fine Print Of Pact They Signed | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: A day after calling off their strike, private hospitals are scrutinising the MoU signed between the state government and the doctors on the Right to Health (RTH) Bill. Despite the consensus, there is ambiguity on several points in the MoU signed on Tuesday. Like, if a private hospital is 50-bed but has taken land from the government on concessional rate, will it come under the purview of the RTH Bill? As per the MoU, 50-bedded hospitals are exempt but those hospitals that have taken land on concession from the government are not.
The private hospitals are having a re-look at the documents they signed while taking land at concessional rates, to check for any clause which brings them under the law. Even those that have taken land on concessional rates are claiming they did not sign any clause that would bring them under the Bill.
“I am not sure but somebody has told me that 40 hospitals might have taken land at a concessional rate,” said Dr Sunil Chugh, president Indian Medical Association’s state branch.
On social media it is being circulated that even hospitals that took land at concessional rates are out of the RTH ambit as they had not signed any clause in their land allotment contract which obliagtes them to implement government schemes. Most private hospitals are terming the MoU as a win-win for both the government and the doctors.
“It is not a question of how many private hospitals will be covered under RTH, but the number of beds people will get under RTH. In the city, there are three private medical colleges which will come under the RTH as per the MoU. All the three hospitals attached to these medical colleges will jointly provide 30% of total private hospital beds in the city to patients under RTH,” said SP Patidar, director of a private hospital in the city.
However, the government has not made any claim on how many private hospitals will fall under RTH fulfilling the MoU conditions.
