RU Professors: Ru Professors Say Despite Orders, Poll Duty Not Given As Per Grade | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Professors from the University of Rajasthan have once again alleged that despite orders from the state election commission, duties have not been given to them as per their grade.
Around 150 teachers from the university will be involved in election duty this year. The state election commissioner on October 13 had issued an order to all district election officers to assign election duty to professors and teaching staff from various colleges in the state as per their cadre.The order stated that teaching staff from the universities have not been assigned election duty as per their designation and pay scale and have been appointed as presiding returning officers.
The order also mentioned that in the previous Lok Sabha and assembly elections, college professors were appointed as sector officers and zonal magistrates, and previously all teachers served their election duty, “therefore appointing them as presiding returning officers is not according to their designation or pay scale.”
A senior professor from the university said, “Seventy teachers have been given the duty of presiding returning officers, which is completely contrary to the rules of the election commission.
As per the rules, higher education professors cannot be appointed to posts below the zonal magistrate. The election commission had issued orders last month to assign duties as per the cadre, but still such duties are being given in violation of the orders.”

Medical college doctors protest posting on Sabarimala duty
Over 150 doctors, including assistant professors and senior residents, have been temporarily posted at Konni MCH for the Sabarimala pilgrimage season. This is the first time MCH doctors are being chosen for this duty in large numbers. Some doctors believe that this is an attempt to cover up deficiencies at Konni MCH. The Kerala Government Medical College Teachers Association (KGMCTA) is opposing these postings, as they will impact tertiary care and academic sessions at the colleges. Additionally, the transfer of doctors will affect the services at other MCHs.
