Rural Development: 39 Panchayat Bhavans Yet To Be Built Despite Funds | Jaipur News

Jaipur: In as many as 39 gram panchayats, the rural development and panchayati raj department has not started building the panchayat bhavans that were announced in the 2020-21 budget, even though the state government has sanctioned funds for them.
Data furnished by the department also revealed that financial approval is due for 15 panchayat bhavans for which land has been allotted. These include three panchayat bhavans in Barmer, two each in Jaipur and Jhunjhunu, and one each in Dausa, Pratapgarh, Sikar, Bundi, Alwar, Bharatpur, Jaisalmer and Churu.
The department is yet to start building nine panchayat bhavans in Alwar, seven in Barmer, four each in Bikaner, Dausa and Jaisalmer, two each in Udaipur and Nagaur, and one each in Jaipur, Churu, Hanumangarh, Jhunjhunu, Karauli, Dungarpur and Rajsamand, according to information given by the department.
These issues were highlighted during a review meeting of the panchayati raj department held under minister Ramesh Chand Meena on September 9. According to data shared at the meeting, of the total target of 1,442 panchayat bhavans, land has been allotted for 1,432 and financial approval given for 1,419 buildings. As many as 777 panchayat bhavans have been completed and work is in progress on 603 buildings.
As per the budget announcement for 2023-24, tablets were to be given to officials of revenue and panchayati raj departments to make panchayat-related work online. A total requirement of 23,320 tablets was estimated by the panchayati raj department. However, based on technical suggestions related to tablets from the department of information and technology (DOIT), the file for financial demand is under process at the finance department since June 6, 2023, data shared by the panchayati raj department revealed.
A total budget of Rs 50 crore was initially proposed for the distribution of tablets to officials of panchayati raj and revenue departments.

Row over Bengal cops ‘snooping’ on Raj Bhavan
CRPF troopers will replace Kolkata Police officers in the office and residential areas of Raj Bhavan, following a complaint of surveillance on the activities of Bengal governor CV Ananda Bose. The shuffle is a result of the ongoing tussle between the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government and Bose. Kolkata Police will now only guard the gates and gardens of the complex. While TMC condemned the move, CPM leader Sujan Chakraborty mentioned that Mamata Banerjee had also relied on central forces in the past.

The event was delayed due to a lack of coordination between Raj Bhavan, the assembly speaker, the state parliamentary affairs minister, and the bypoll winner. The governor had initially arranged for the ceremony at Raj Bhavan, but the speaker requested it be held in the assembly.
