Sanitation Workers Call Off Protest After Govt Agrees To Issue Revised Hiring Order | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Sanitation workers from Valmiki community called off their strike on Tuesday after the state government agreed to the demands of the sanitation workers and said that a revised recruitment notification will be issued by the end of this week.
The workers had been demanding that recruitment notification of staff should be issued without reservation and staff from Valmiki community who have been working on contractual basis since 2018 must be given preference. In April, after talks with sanitation workers, the state government had said that recruitment of over 13000 workers will be done based on the demands of the union.
Cabinet minister Mahesh Joshi, JMC Heritage mayor Munesh Gurjar met the sanitation workers from Sanyukt Valmiki Evam Safai Shramik Sangh on Tuesday and discussed the demands with them and arrived at the agreement.
Narendra Kumar Verma, deputy director of DLB said, “As soon as approval is received from the competent level for the recruitment of 13184 sanitation staff, giving priority to Valmiki society, the revised release will be issued by the end of this week.”
Nand Kishore Dandoriya, president of Sanyukt Valmiki Evam Safai Shramik Sangh said, “A meeting was held with the mayor and cabinet minister Mahesh Joshi after which a notification has been issued by the government where we have been given a written assurance that a revised recruitment advertisement giving preference to sanitation workers from Valmiki community will be issued by June 9, but minister Joshi has assured us that the notification will be issued within a day or two itself. On this assurance, we are calling off our strike.”
On Tuesday, waste collection was affected in several areas as sanitation workers remained on strike. In Malviya Nagar, Jyothi Nagar, Lalkothi, waste collection did not take place on Tuesday.
