Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana: Only 14 Of 35 Raj Mps Adopt Villages As Required Under Central Scheme | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Under the second phase of Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY-II) (2019-23), 12 Lok Sabha members and two Rajya Sabha members, including former PM Manmohan Singh, have identified/adopted the required number of five villages for development.

However, there are some other members, including former CM Vasundhara Raje son’s Dushyant Singh and Congress general secretary KC Venugopal (required to adopt four villages), who have not adopted even a single village yet, according to the Centre’s Saanjhi portal and data received from the state’s rural development department.
With just six months left for the general elections, 107 of the total target of 175 villages have been identified so far by MPs from Rajasthan. Other MPs who have not adopted a single village yet are Neeraj Dangi (required to adopt four villages), Ghanshyam Tiwari, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Mukul Wasnik and Pramod Tiwari (required to adopt two villages each).

The MPs were supposed to adopt the required number of villages at the start of the second phase of SAGY (in 2019), said an official. The MPs who have adopted/identified just one village each are: Chandra Prakash Joshi (Dhavdiya), Sukhbir Singh Jaunapuria (Darda Hind), Jaskaur Meena (Bilona Kalan), Om Birla (Kishanpura Takia); Rajya Sabha – Kirodi Lal Meena (Pyariwas) and Rajendra Gehlot (Amarpura).
On being contacted, Jhalawar-Baran MP Dushyant Singh said he would adopt villages in the next few days. Rajya Sabha member Neeraj Dangi said, “I will adopt a village in Pali district soon. The one I did earlier was not adopted officially. However, I had given funds for its development through an NGO.”
Rajya Sabha member Pramod Tiwari said, “The administration has asked me to identify one village first. I have already given the name of the village to the local administration. But I feel just adoption of villages does not really work. The central government should allocate separate funds for overall development of villages instead of using funds from the existing schemes through convergence.”
Randeep Singh Surjewala’s office informed that he had identified Hathnoda village in Jaipur and the local administration has been informed about it.
Sukhbir Singh Jaunapuria, the MP from Tonk-Sawai Madhopur constituency, said, “I have selected one village, but the local administration is not working at all. I have asked the district collector to organise meetings with the departments concerned, but nothing has been done so far. I will adopt other villages if there is some progress in work in the first village. Else, people will blame me for not doing any work despite adopting so many villages.”
While no concrete reply was received from the offices of some of the MPs, a few others could not be reached. “Reminders have been sent to all the MPs by the state’s rural development and panchayati raj minister (Ramesh Chand Meena) to adopt the required number of villages. The department has also asked the collectors to request MPs representing their districts to identify villages at the earliest,” said a rural development department official.
Lok Sabha members from Rajasthan who have adopted all the five villages are Arjun Ram Meghwal, Kailash Choudhary, Narendra Kumar, Sumedhanand Saraswati, Arjunlal Meena, Kanakmal Katara, Hanuman Beniwal, Ramcharan Bohra, Diya Kumari, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Manoj Rajoria and Bhagirath Choudhary.
Rajya Sabha members who have adopted all the five villages are former PM Manmohan Singh (Bhateri, Gudha Surjan, Bhaislana, Kanwarpura and Aashtikala) and Union minister Bhupender Yadav (Beelaheri, Khandwa, Joriya, Khera Mahmood and Bahadkho Kalan).
MPs who have adopted two villages each are Rahul Kaswan, Subhash Chandra Baheria, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Ranjeeta Koli.
