Senior Police Officers: ‘collective Steps Needed To Curb Suicides’ |

Kota: Psychologists, senior police officers and spiritual gurus in Kota on World Suicide Prevention Day on Sunday called upon for collective measures to check rising cases of suicides in society and to adopt positive attitude and not to view consultancy with psychologists as ‘something wrong’. The speakers were speaking in two events separately organised respectively by Allen Career Institute and Hope Society and Rotary Club Kota Roundtown in Sathyarth Auditorium in Jawahar Nagar in the afternoon and in a hotel on Bundi road earlier in the day on Sunday, observed as World Suicide Prevention Day.
Director of Allen Career Institute Naveen Maheshwari stressed on collective measures to check rising suicide cases and efforts to establish Kota as role model in providing stress-free life to students. The city should be known as career as well as care city, he added.
Around two-third of the suicide cases in society were found to be associated with some psychological disorder, while one-third, some of whom escaped suicide bid, were of no mental issue, said Dr Nimesh Desai, former director of IHBAS.
Spiritual guru Sadhvi Saraswati urged people to adopt spiritual lifestyle and stressed that one did not commit suicide in a day, but the process continues for days when one loses something every day and it is explosion of his thoughts when he commits suicide. Explosion of thoughts could be well handed with spiritual lifestyle, she said. Noted psychologists of the city and founder of Hope Society Dr ML Agrawal noted that majority of suicide cases were witnessed among NEET aspirants in last year and demanded to conduct NEET examination twice in a year online for ease of the aspirants.
ASP Uma Sharma pointed out only mental health was not the reason behind suicide but troubles like debt, sour relationship, failure were other factors to suicide in society.
Kota city SP Sharad Choudhary, principal, Medical College, Kota Dr Sangeeta Saxena were among others present on the occasion in Sathyarth Auditorium.
