Shekhawat: Despite Differences, Gehlot and Shekhawat Share Dais and Laughs | Jaipur News
Jaipur: The outgoing chief minister Ashok Gehlot was seated on the dais along with the BJP leaders. He came early and sat next to Union Jal Shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat whom he had accused of orchestrating a rebellion and trying to topple his government in July 2020.
Shekhawat, on the other hand, is pursuing a defamation suit against Gehlot for accusing him of fraud.Both leaders, hailing fromJodhpur, share a very antagonistic relationship but during the swearing-in, they chatted and laughed along with former CM Vasundhara Raje, who also does not have good relations with Shekhawat.
Shekhawat had also filed a case against then Gehlot’s OSD Lokesh Sharma accusing him of tapping his phone and making the conversation viral. Raje saw Shekhaswat as a challenger to her in the BJP. Gehlot has been repeatedly targeting Union minister Shekhawat, accusing him and his family of being involved in the Sanjivani Credit Co-operative Society ‘scam’ in which thousands of investors lost Rs 900 crore. Shekhawat, in turn, filed a defamation case against Gehlot in Delhi and the trial is on. They were seen talking to each other as they waited for the oath-taking ceremony to begin. tnn
