Shekhawat: FIR registered against Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for calling Rajasthan CM ‘Ravan of politics’ | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Former Congress MLA Surendra Singh Jadawat lodged an FIR against Union Jal Shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in Chittorgarh on Saturday for calling Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot the “Ravan of politics”. Shekhawat had made the remark while addressing BJP’s Jan Akrosh rally in the district on Thursday.
Jadawat, a former MLA from the district, alleged in his complaint lodged at Sadar Chittorgarh police station that Shekhawat was the main speaker at the rally in which he termed Gehlot as the “Ravan of politics.”
As per the FIR, Jadawat alleged that Shekhawat was addressing a large gathering in a public place at Subhash Chowk near the old bus stand when such remarks were made.
Jadawat said that wrong facts were presented before a large gathering against the state government and its popular CM, who had introduced a lot of schemes to bring relief to the common people.
Acting on the Congress leader’s complaint, police registered an FIR against Shekhawat under IPC sections including 500 (defamation), 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 505 (statements conducing to public mischief).
Jadawat stated in his complaint inappropriate statements were made against the CM which insulted several people associated with the Congress party. Jadawat said that Shekhawat was a union minister and an elected representative, yet he made those remarks due to alleged “personal enmity”. He said that the remarks were aimed at stiring religious frenzy against the state government.
He also alleged that other speakers at the rally also made misleading statements against the CM and the state government.
