Siwana: Woman’s Death At Barmer Hospital Sparks Protests | Jaipur News

Jaisalmer: A married woman died in Siwana town of Barmer district on Wednesday night, allegedly on not getting timely treatment in a government hospital. Since then her family members and people of the community have been staging a dharna and have refused to take the body. Police force has been deployed at the hospital as a precautionary measure.
Former minister Goparam, former pradhan Omaram Meghwal and others, who are part of the protest, have demanded to book an accused doctor for murder.
Following the protest, the doctor was removed from the post by the CMHO. The Siwana hospital CHC doctors and medical staff, subsequently, boycotted work demanding to deploy the doctor back at the hospital. The medical staff gave a memorandum to the SDM and demanded to deploy Dr Devraj again.
The medical staff at the hospital said false allegations have been levelled against the doctor and that the married woman was dead before being brought to the hospital.
According to the family members, the health of Pappu Devi, a resident of Ramniya, deteriorated on Wednesday night. Her brother Suresh and other relatives took her to Mokalsar hospital, where compounder Kan Singh referred her to the hospital in Siwana.
They reached Siwana hospital at 3am and showed her to the compounder who asked to consult Dr Devraj.
Suresh alleged that he knocked at the door of Dr Devraj and even rang the bell but he did not come out to see the patient.
As the compounder suggested getting the electrocardiogram (ECG) done from outside the hospital, the family members took the woman to Mateshwari private hospital. But since there was no doctor there, they returned to the hospital in Siwana and waited there for two hours.
The family members alleged that the patient was writhing in pain for two hours in the hospital. Due to lack of treatment, she died at 5am, the family alleged.
