Sms Hospital Begins ‘online Prescriptions’ For Palliative Care | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital has started using technology that allows doctors to write their prescription online and pharmacists at drug distribution counters to access the prescription online. This facility has been started in the palliative care department but is meant for use in all the departments. The hospital is waiting for computers and other hardware to set it up in other departments.
The new system will help doctors keep record of patients on the hospital’s intranet database. When a patient comes for a follow-up, the doctor will be able to see on the computer the record of medicines and treatment provided earlier.
“We have started the facility of writing prescription online under integrated hospital management system (IHMS) on pilot basis in the palliative care department,” said Dr Achal Sharma, superintendent of SMS hospital.
Dr Sharma said that all other departments would be integarted with the system for online prescription, but a lot of computers were required, especially for the OPDs, and the hospital was waiting for the hardware to arrive.
Online prescriptions will also directly reach the drug distribution counter. A patient from OPD will simply have to show the registration number, and the pharmacist will find the prescription online. TNN
