Social Media: Yatra Being Used To Collect Money From Ticket Aspirants: Bjp Leader |

Jaipur: A letter sent by BJP leader and former minister Ramkishore Meena to Union minister Prahlad Joshi, the BJP’s Rajasthan in-charge, has found its way to social media, revealing the surprise that Meena has claimed party functionaries were collecting money from election ticket seekers during the party’s ‘Parivartan Sankalp Yatra’.
Meena, while talking to TOI, confirmed that he had mailed this letter to Joshi about 10 days ago. He said he was surprised that the letter had surfaced on social media.
Meena, who has twice been cabinet minister in the state, said he asked Joshi what the “protocol” was for sitting on the ‘Parivartan Rath’ and for having a seat on the dais at public meetings during the yatra. He said he had heard of “protocol” for state functionaries but never in the party organisation.
“It has come to my notice that the party’s district units have been collecting money ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 25,000 from prospective election candidates. In Sikarai assembly constituency, Rs 1 lakh to Rs 50,000 each has been collected from 31 ticket aspirants, and in Dasua assembly seat Rs 25,000 each has been collected from 22 ticket seekers. There is information that similar collections have been made in other assembly seats as well.” Meena said.
He said the collection was being made in the guise of expenses for organsing meetings and food and other arragements during the yatra. He asked if any decision in this regard had been taken by the state organisation or if district units were doing this on their own.
He said in the letter he had given his credentials as having been in politics since 1977 and being an MLA 14 times, cabinet minister twice, and gram pradhan once. He said he had twice been the party’s state vice-president and was the ST Morcha state president till recently.
CM Ashok Gehlot’s OSD Rishabh Kumar Sharma had posted Meena’s letter on X.
