Sonar Fort: Electricity Wires at Sonar Fort: A Concern for Jaisalmer Residents | Jaipur News
Jaisalmer: The nearly 3,000 residents of the 873-year-old Sonar Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are negotiating their daily lives amid a web of electricity wires that hang everywhere, ever since the 1970s when these wires were installed in the fort.
Residents have given memorandums time and again to the district administration and the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) but there has been no change in the situation.Neeraj Vyas, a resident of the fort, said the web of wires not only affects the beauty of the fort but also the daily lives of the residents. Vimal Gopa, another resident, said that many NGOs work for the conservation of the fort but do hardly anything about removing the mesh of overhanging wires everywhere.
Municipal council commissioner Lajpat Singh Sodha said that the maintenance of the fort comes under ASI.

On Peb Fort trek, 27-yr-old IT exec survives 400-ft fall
Aishwarya Dhalgade, an Andheri resident, survived a 400-feet fall from Peb Fort. She was rescued after a seven-hour operation. The accident occurred when a group of five trekkers, including Dhalgade, were returning from the fort. Dhalgade suffered fractures to her thigh, waist, and right leg. The Matheran police, Sahyadri rescue team, and local tribals were involved in the rescue. She is currently receiving treatment at Patkar Hospital in Badlapur.

PM launches Aatmanirbhar Bharat Centre for Design, set up in Red Fort barrack
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Centre for Design (ABCD), a centre to promote indigenous crafts and contribute to a sustainable cultural economy. The centre, named ‘Project Aatman’, is housed in a colonial-era barrack on the premises of the Red Fort complex in Delhi. The centre was inaugurated along with the maiden India Art, Architecture & Design Biennale (IAADB). The initiative aims to empower artisan communities with new designs and innovations, reinvent the craft sector, and provide economic stability and livelihood to those associated with it.
