Special Court: Man Who Killed His Friend In 2018 Given Life Imprisonment | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The special court for SC-ST cases of Jaipur Metro-I has sentenced UP resident Mohit Singh Sengar to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 40,000 in the case of murder of his own Dalit friend by crushing him with a stone in Shivdaspura police station area in 2018.
The court convicted Sengar of murder on circumstantial evidence. The court said in its verdict that the accused committed a heinous crime and killed his own friend brutally; in such cases, no leniency could be given to him.
Special public prosecutor Pradeep Kumar Agarwal said that on February 3, 2018, Barkheda resident Rajulal had lodged a report at Shivdaspura police station that the previous day the body of his cousin, Tarachand aka Lala, was found in a field on Tonk Road. He suspected that someone had murdered his cousin as his head had been crushed with a stone.
The police registered a report and arrested the accused, Sengar. Investigation revealed that Sengar and the deceased were friends and lived together.
Statements of 14 witnesses were recorded and the prosecution claimed that the circumstantial evidence was against the accused and hence he should be sentenced to life imprisonment.

The court also imposed fines and additional imprisonment for non-payment. The trial took place in a special fast-track court, and the accused was sentenced under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. The victim’s identity has been protected as per Supreme Court directives.
2015 Hema Upadhyay murder: Artist Chintan Upadhyay gets life imprisonment
Artist Chintan Upadhyay has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a Mumbai court for his involvement in the murder of his estranged wife, Hema Upadhyay, in 2015. Along with Chintan, three others were also sentenced to life imprisonment. The prosecution had sought the death penalty for the four convicts. The court considered the heinous nature of the crime, the relationship between the accused and the victims, and the impact on society in delivering the sentence. Chintan’s lawyer argued for leniency, stating that he was not directly involved in the murder.
