Jaipur: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Jaipur branch office is conducting awareness drives as part of the ongoing Vigilance Awareness Campaign 2023 to inform people that offering and accepting bribes is an offence, and people need to report such matters. The head of the bureau (Jaipur), DIGP Ashok Kumar, stated that the theme of this year’s campaign is “Say No to Corruption; Commit to the Nation.” Kumar mentioned that as part of the ongoing campaign, workshops were organised with several Public Sector Units (PSUs), banks, insurance companies, and customs.“We have also held panel discussions to educate people about the fact that if anyone demands a bribe, they have the option to approach the authorities and refrain from giving a bribe,” he said. He added that similar awareness drives were organised in gram sabhas of Jaipur and Sikar. “We have informed people that they can contact theCBI office or file a complaint through the CBI’s online portal,” he said, noting that the identity of the complainant would be kept confidential, and after due diligence, the central agency would take appropriate action. According to Kumar, people must also be aware of the Public Interest Disclosure and Protection of Informers (PIDPI) system, through which complaints can be addressed to the Secretary of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC). tnn

CBI arrests BSNL divisional engineer in Lucknow for taking Rs 20,000 bribe
A divisional engineer at Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in Jalaun was apprehended by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Lucknow for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000. The arrest came after a complaint was filed against the engineer, accusing him of soliciting a bribe in exchange for awarding a contract. The CBI conducted a sting operation and found incriminating documents during searches at the engineer’s premises. The accused has been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.
