Sports Nutrition: Tickets To Meena, Malinga Anger Dalit Activists, Ngo | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan (MKSS) staged a protest against BJP’s Anta candidate, Kanwar Lal Meena, accusing him and his loyalists of unleashing violence against their activists during their Jawabdehi rally in Aklera Tehsil Jhalawar in 2016. Meena was then MLA from Aklera and was opposing the yatra from passing his area, fearing that the body would reveal his corruption charges. The MKSS plans to register a complaint against Meena with the Election Commission. The body is claiming that Meena was convicted in the case and sentenced to three years of imprisonment by the ADJ court in Akhlera in 2020.
The involvement of Meena in the case sparked national outrage among civil society movements. Former CM Vasundhara Raje was under pressure and didn’t award him the ticket from Akkera.
Dalit organisations are also up in arms against Congress-turned-BJP’s Bari candidate, Girriraj Singh Malinga. He is accused of beating Dalit engineer Harshadhipati Valmiki in March last year. The chargesheet in the case is yet to be filed, and he is out of bail. The issue snowballed into a major controversy as the BJP raised the issue in the assembly for days and on the roads.
The organisations will raise the matter with Dalit leaders across the state. “By including Malinga, the Congress has proved that it is an anti-Dalit party and is only trying to garner votes by creating noise over Dalit atrocities,” said Bhanwar Meghwanshi, a Dalit thinker based in Rajasthan and co-convenor of the Scheduled Caste Rights Campaign. “Valmiki is bedridden and cannot stand even today. There was a strong demand to cut the ticket of the MLA accused of such heinous atrocities,” said Meghwanshi.
