JAIPUR: GST collections of Rajasthan increased by 23% in the financial year 2022-23 to Rs 33,787 crore from Rs 27,501 crore in the previous fiscal.
VAT revenue collections also increased by 10.30% to Rs 22,726 crore from Rs 20,605 crore in 2021-22. Cumulatively, the commercial tax department collected revenues of Rs 56,514 crore against Rs 48,107 crore, which is 17% higher than the previous year.
Attributing the growth in tax collections to buoyancy in consumption patterns and economic activities triggered by the economic recovery, Ravi Kumar Surpur, the commissioner of commercial taxes, said, “Heightened vigilance against evasion, tightening of compliances with measures, and the relentless pursuance by the tax officials resulted in the growth in tax collections.”
Surpur said ensuring the filing of returns, timely execution of audit, scrutiny and enforcement activities contributed to the rise in tax collections. Going by the early trends in the current fiscal, the department expects to achieve an improved performance in GST and VAT collections, he added.
