Although most patients have mild infection, the number of patients requiring oxygen support and hospitalisation has slowly gone up in the last 7 to 10 days, health experts said. The onslaught of the Omicron variant has already plateaued and the situation will be under control by the end of this month. However, there is a need to remain vigilant, they said.
“A dangerous trend that has been noticed is that people having fever for two days take it lightly and return to work after it subsides without getting tested. It needs to be stressed that if you are displaying Covid symptoms, you must get tested…”
“…All of us have children or elderly people around us and they need to be protected. The disease can turn out to be complicated for children as they are not vaccinated. It is important that people get tested, follow the proper quarantine and not treat Omicron like mild flu,” said Dr Shivani Swami, consultant pulmonologist at a private hospital.
Besides, 12,839 persons recovered from the virus on the day.
