Stone Age-era Tools Found Near Jaisalmer River, Lakhs Of Years Old | Jaipur News

JAISALMER: Retired archaeologist of ASI’s Bhopal Circle Dr Narayan Vyas has found stone age-era tools and weapons, indicating a human settlement lakhs of years ago, in the hills adjoining Kak river, 30 km from Jaisalmer.
Dr Vyas a few years ago had found stones and tools of neolithic settlements here and in nearby areas. This week he increased the ambit of his search on the banks of Kak river and along with archaelogical experts Parth Jagani, Radheyshyam Pemani and others found more stone tools which confirm the presence of prehistoric settlements in Jaisalmer.
The stone tools have been found in hills, slopes and near rain-fed rivers which indicate that there would have been caves also, which at present have vanished, as the primitive man dwelled in caves. Dr Vyas said that the caves could have been destroyed due to tectonic movements or from erosion by river water.
Remains of prehistoric settlements have been earlier found earlier in Jaisalmer. Mainly stone axes and scrapers have been found. Dr Vyas said that the stone tools and weapons he found along the banks of Kak river were smaller than the weapons found earlier in the region, which is a sign of development.
Dr Vyas said that the primitive man started making weapons smaller with time as they were more precise and easier to use.
