3 Bangladeshi tourists die in Dal Lake houseboat fire
Three tourists from Bangladesh were killed in a fire on a houseboat at Srinagar’s Dal Lake. The fire, believed to be caused by a malfunctioning heating appliance, resulted in the deaths of the tourists and the destruction of several properties, including other houseboats and sheds. The bodies of the victims were charred beyond recognition. The local authorities are providing assistance to the affected persons, and efforts are being made to reconstruct the damaged houseboats. This is the second major fire incident in the area, with the previous incident occurring in April 2022.

A man named Niraj Tiwari has been arrested for orchestrating a scam involving around 100 hotels and resorts across 20 tourist destinations in India. Tiwari created fake advertisements and websites to dupe unsuspecting tourists into making advance bookings and extracting money from them unlawfully. The police swiftly initiated surveillance and traced the origin of the fake websites to Lucknow, leading to Tiwari’s arrest. Investigations revealed that he had started his own digital marketing company and collaborated with others to create fraudulent sites targeting tourist destinations. This incident serves as a warning against scammers exploiting the digital realm.
