Jaipur: The Sawai Madhopur police on Thursday evening arrested a 22-year-old man and detained two of his friends for the alleged gang-rape of a 19-year-old college girl. The Man Town police station house officer (SHO) Radha Raman Gupta said that the accused had been idenitfied as Vinod Meena (21), Prem Raj Gurjar (21) and Arvind Meena (21).
“Arvind has been arrested while Vinod and Prem got injured when they jumped off a house terrace to give cops a slip,” Gupta said, adding that Vinod and Prem are undergoing treatment while Arvind has been arrested.
Gupta stated that the girl, a student at a private college in the district, lodged an FIR on Wednesday. In her complaint, she alleged that Vinod, whom she had known for the past seven to eight months, called her to meet him at Ganesh Nagar Mod that day.
She went to the spot to meet Vinod, who arrived there on a bike with his friend Prem. Vinod asked her to accompany him to his friend Arvind’s place because he wanted to talk to her about something.
“After taking her to Arvind’s room, the accused told Prem and Arvind to leave, he then locked the door and raped her,” Gupta said, adding that the accused then called his friends to return to the room.
The duo came back after about 25 minutes following which Vinod and Arivnd left after asking Prem to drop the girl to her room.
However, Prem also went into the same room and then raped the already terrified girl. The accused also shot videos and photos of the act and warned her to keep mum otherwise he would upload those videos and photos on social media which could ruin her image.
“The girl sought the help of the landlord’s wife and narrated her ordeal to her, she then helped her and filed a report,” Gupta said.
The police said that they filed an FIR under IPC Sections 342 (wrongful confinement), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 376D (gang rape), along with other relevant provisions under the SC/ST Prevention of atrocities act.
Gupta said that on Thursday, the police raided the hideout of the accused. During the raid, Vinod and Prem attempted to escape but fell and sustained injuries. They were subsequently admitted to a hospital for treatment. Arvind was arrested from the same house.
