The deceased woman was identified as Rajabai Gurjar (30), a resident of Subash Nagar Nai Basti, Lakheri, who lived alone after the death of her husband four years ago.
Her son studies in a hostel in Indergarh town of the district.
When the milkman reached her home on Friday morning and opened the door, she was found lying in bed with blood oozing out of her nose, the police said.
The body bore injury marks on the head, they added.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
Bundi SP Jai Yadav also visited the spot later in the day and examined the crime circumstances.
DSP Natisha Jakhar, circle officer of the area, said, “Suspecting murder, the police lodged a case of murder under Section 302 of IPC against unidentified person and handed over the body to family members after postmortem later in the day”.
Investigation is underway to ascertain the actual reason of death and nab the accused, she added.
