Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: Hooda To Lead Rajasthan In Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Deepak Hooda has been appointed as the Rajasthan captain for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy scheduled to begin on September 16. The newly-appointed senior men’s selection committee of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA), headed by former state player Rahul Kanwat, on Friday announced the 15-member squad which features familiar faces like seasoned seamers Deepak Chahar, Aniket Choudhary and Khaleel Ahmed, along with proven batters like Mahipal Lomror and Arjit Gupta. The Rajasthan squad also features upcoming and young talent in Shubham Garhwal and Manav Suthar.
But contrary to the RCA management claims that performers of the first edition of the Rajasthan Premier League (RPL), which concluded on September 11, will also be considered for selection, no new face from the state’s T20 league has been picked up.
Moreover, unlike the team’s bowling unit, their batting department does not look strong enough. In the last few seasons, Aditya Garhwal and Salman Khan have failed to make substantial contributions. They need to step up if Rajasthan want to go the distance.
Rajasthan will open the campaign against Pondicherry on September 16 in Mohali.
Squad: Abhijeet Tomar, Aditya Garhwal, Mahipal Lomror, Deepak Hooda (captain), Kunal Singh (wicketkeeper), Arjit Gupta, Salman Khan, Deepak Chahar, Rahul Chahar, Aniket Choudhary, Syed Khaleel Ahmed, Arafat Khan, Manav Suthar, Shubham Garhwal and Mukul Choudhary
