Kota: Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday claimed that thousands of crores of rupees of central funds given to Rajasthan under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) were not spent as the state’s Congress government did not want to utilise the funds for people’s benefit. Speaking at a press conference here, Dhami said his state, Uttarakhand, would implement Uniform Civil Code (UCC) to maintain and retain the state’s ‘Dev Swaroop’ (divine persona). TNN

The Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court has ordered the reservation of over 73.70 crore unutilized funds for the purchase of advanced medical equipment and services at Government Medical College and Hospital. Committees have been set up to initiate the procurement process for various medical equipment, including a linear accelerator and robotic surgery system. The funds, which have been either remitted to the Reserve Bank of India or lying with Haffkine Biopharmaceuticals Corporation Ltd, will now be directed towards the intended purposes.

The finance department of Kolkata has proposed the implementation of a Human Resource Management System to simplify the process of receiving funds from the state government for 11 state universities. The proposal aims to streamline the disbursal of funds and simplify the provident fund scheme through digitalization. However, some university officials are concerned that this may curtail the financial autonomy of the universities. The finance department assures that it is only a proposal and not an imposition.

The Uttarakhand government has signed an MoU worth Rs 1,000 crore with Mahindra Holidays and Resort India Limited, marking the largest investment by the firm in any state in the country. Additionally, an MoU worth Rs 1,600 crore was signed with e-Kuber. ITC has also proposed an investment of Rs 5,000 crore in the state. The Chief Minister has set a target of doubling the state’s SGDP in the next five years and has introduced new policies to streamline the process of establishing industrial units. Roadshows will be held in various cities and countries to promote investment in the state.
