2 From Up Killed, 6 Injured As Bus Hits Divider In Bharatpur | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Two young men, both from UP, were killed and at least six others injured, four of them critically, when a sleeper coach bus on its way to Jaipur from Agra rammed onto a road divider near Bhusawar in Bharatpur district, at about 4am early Saturday morning.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver became drowsy during early morning hours, which resulted in the accident, police said.
“The bus had almost 40 passengers and had departed from Agra at 11.30pm on Friday. Near Kherli Mode in Bhusawar, the driver lost control over the wheels when the bus was at a speed of almost 80 km/hour, according to the passengers,” said a senior police officer of Bhusawar police station.
Shrieks and cries were heard at the spot and local villagers reached to help the passengers. “Without waiting for ambulances, the locals on their own took the injured to nearby hospitals. Passengers were in panic as many of them were asleep when the accident took place,” the officer added.
The deceased included Gautam (19), a resident of Chattarpur in Mainpuri of Uttar Pradesh. He was coming to Jaipur in search of a job. “His friends had told him that they had found a suitable job for him,” said the officer.
The other deceased was identified as Vaibhav (26), a resident of Noida in Uttar Pradesh.
At least six passengers who were sitting on the front seats sustained injuries. “Of the six, the condition of four is stated to be critical,” the officer said.
