Jaisalmer: A couple hanged themselves from a tree at Shiv police station area in Barmer district on Friday while a lecturer in Barmer City killed himself by jumping before the train.
In the first incident, a 25-year-old mother of two children along with her 22-year-old lover hanged themselves from the same rope, 500 metres away from the woman’s home. Both were close relatives.
According to police, Kharthara (22), a resident of Ramderia Kashmir village, left home on Thursday telling his family members that he was going to Barmer. His lover Kamla left her home without telling anybody and both killed themselves by hanging from the same noose near her house. On Friday, morning people passing saw the bodies and informed the villagers.
Villagers said Kamla was married four years ago. She has two girls and her husband is a farmer.
In another incident on Friday, a lecturer jumped before a train at BSF gate. The body has been kept in a mortuary.
Police said around 8am, Kalika Express started from the station and when it reached the BSF gate, a person was hit by the train. He died on the spot. He was identified as as Jitendra Kumar, a resident of Hinglaj Nagar.
