Jaipur: BJP MLA from Chittorgarh, Chandrabhan Singh Aakhya, who has said that he will contest as an Independent against the BJP’s candidate Narpat Singh Rajvi, on Tuesday filed a police complaint alleging that an anonymous caller had threatened to kill him and his family if he contested the election.
“I will file nomination on November 2. On October 26, my election office will be inaugurated,” Aakhya told reporters after addressing a public meeting.
Aakhya’s supporters have been protesting ever since the BJP gave the ticket from Chittorgarh seat to former vice president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat’s son-in-law Narpat Singh Rajvi.
Sadar SHO Bhawani Singh said that the MLA has alleged that an unidentified person called him from different numbers and threatened to kill him if he contested against Rajvi.

Singh had earlier expressed confidence that his suspension would be revoked and stated his intention to contest the Telangana Assembly polls from the Goshamahal constituency on the BJP ticket. Telangana is set to witness a three-way contest between the BJP, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and Congress.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to former Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat ahead of the Rajasthan assembly polls. He praised Shekhawat’s leadership as chief minister and his efforts towards the progress of the nation. Modi highlighted Shekhawat’s focus on improving the quality of life for the poor, farmers, youth, and women, as well as his contributions to rural development. He also mentioned Shekhawat’s role in enhancing democratic standards as Vice-President and shared his personal memories of interacting with him. Modi reiterated his commitment to realizing Shekhawat’s vision for the nation.
