Jat Mahakumbh: ‘show Of Strength’ By Jat Community In City On March 5 | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Several bodies associated with the Jat community are set to display their strength by holding a big gathering under the name ‘Jat Mahakumbh’ here on March 5.
Eyeing assembly elections scheduled in November-December, the caste-based bodies are pitching for demands like Jat CM, raising the OBC reservation, caste- based census and hostels along with reformatory movements in the community against social evils like dowry and extravagant spending on marriages.
Kuldeep Dehwa, youth president of Rajasthan Jat Mahasabha (RJM), told TOI, “The gathering of Jats is going to be the biggest in the country. The aim is to politically and socially awaken the community, which is the largest caste contingent in the state.”
Calling increase in OBC reservation as one of their prime demands, Dehwa said, “State grants 21% reservation to OBC, which should immediately be raised to 27% and a timeframe be given for extending the reservation equivalent to OBC population.”
The RJM team is touring the Jat-dominated blocks inviting people to attend the event. The posters and banners urged the members of the Jat community to serve the community by participating in it.
They also sought contributions from able community members to help others join the event.
“Jat students who appear in the recruitment exams in huge numbers face huge problems of accommodation during examinations. Our clear demand is that government should allot land and funds to create the hostels to the community,” further said Dehwa.
