Jaipur: Not just Delhi, but even Rajasthan’s Bhiwadi is breathing under the ‘severe’ category with air quality index reaching to as high as 410 as per CAQM report on Friday.
Bhiwadi is an industrial area which is close to Gurugram. Apart from this, the town, which is under Khairthal district, Bharatpur, which is in the National Capital Region (NCR) sub-region belt is also under the ‘very poor’ category.Agriculture belts like Sriganganagar and Hanumangarh are seeing AQI as high as 378 and 395, which falls under ‘very poor’ category.
Towns such as Kota also experienced higher presence of air pollutants with AQI slipping into 302 which is a ‘severe’ category, on Thursday. The AQI of Jaipur city stood at 182 which is under the ‘Moderate’ category. The AQI of Delhi stood at 468 with PM2.5,PM10 being prominent particles.
Following a spike in pollution level, the state pollution control board has been taking actions against industries found violating rules and polluting the air.
For the first time, the department closed down two industries in the Ranpur area of which one is a rice mill and other one is a plywood factory. “Notice was sent earlier also, but the industries didn’t respond and therefore we had to take action for closing it down. Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) and municipal corporations have also taken action against these two industries,” the official noted.
On Thursday, the CAQM implemented the GRAP III category in the NCR region which restricts construction and demolition works and also insists on closing of schools. There is also restriction on buses below BS VI travelling to and from NCT to the National Capital Region districts.
