Independence: Like Jmc-h, Graft Is Rampant In Greater: Welfare Board Chief | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Confident of getting the Congress ticket for the upcoming assembly elections, Archana Sharma, chairperson of state social welfare board, on Thursday kicked off her election campaign by announcing the launch of 26-day ‘Vikas Sankalp Yatra’ in the Malviya Nagar assembly constituency from August 11. Levelling serious allegations, Sharma said, like JMC-Heritage, corruption was rampant in the Jaipur Greater municipal corporation as well.

She further accused Malviya Nagar MLA Kalicharan Sharaf of protecting the corrupt and the liquor and betting mafia in the constituency. Sharma lost the 2018 assembly election to Sharaf by 1,704 votes. She alleged Saraf inaugurated development works being done by her and taking credit for that.
“Irony is that the work we get done, after its completion, the local MLA inaugurates it without hesitation. Saraf carries ribbon and scissors in his pocket,” she said. “Local MLAs do not use their quota. They are close-fisted in doing so as if they are using their money earned from corruption. When BJP ruled the state, betting and liquor mafias were flourishing in Malviya Nagar.”

“The people who are ruling the corporation, are responsible for corruption there (indicating the role of BJP). The file for development works in some parts of my constituency is ready, but the plans are not getting approved. The files of leases have been stuck for six months to one year. The leases of Bapu Nagar and Khawas Ji Ka Vaag have been stopped. We have brought these things to the notice of the minister (urban development minister Shanti Dhariwal). That’s why files of the corporation are being transfererd to JDA for lease distribution.”
On a question of approaching the ACB against corruption, Sharma said, “If I receive any complaint of corruption, I will definitely approach the ACB.
