rajasthan: Rajasthan students stuck in Ukraine melt snow to drink and cook | Jaipur News

Students are now collecting snow from the ground and ice from a nearby lake, melting it and using it for toilets, drinking and cooking. Kamlesh Kumar, a student of Churu, told TOI they are left with no option than to collect ice of the frozen lake in buckets, melting it in hostels and using it for toilets.

“We have no water left in the hostels and toilets are jammed. We are using water from lake by melting the ice to freshen up. It is so difficult to survive here. We are living like scavengers without any guidelines or hope by the government of India. Please help us,” said Kamlesh.
Another student Maheshwari Tetarwal sent video and photographs of students filling up rooftop water from the pipe to be used for drinking purposes. Desperately requesting for help, she said, “We cannot survive like this. Look at us all students who are melting ice to survive in a foreign land as our government is not concern about us. When is the help coming for us? There is no food left and we are surviving on small portion of rice cooked using ice water. ”
On Thursday, Russia bombarded nearby areas which impacted the power of the Sumy Medical University for a few hours. A big bomb blast occurred near the hostel which students explained made the sky turn yellow, red in colour and they were not able to see for a few minutes.
Around 800 (100 from Rajasthan) Indian students are said to be stranded in Sumy which is closer to Russian border. It is said to be difficult for the government to get the students out of the university with continuous Russian bombarding. Dhiraj Srivas- tav is the chairman of Rajasthan Foundation and coordinator of Rajasthan and central government regarding the Ukraine student matter.
