Earlier, wards were distributed to different specialties in a “scattered” way, causing difficulty in reaching them. For better inter-departmental placement of wards, ICUs and OTs, the SMS medical college has re-allotted and re-named the wards.
For general medicine, 150 ICU beds have been made available in 8 ICUs that have been named MICU-1 to MICU-8. The new emergency ICU, the emergency ICU, and the specialty ICU are some of the ICUs that have been given to general medicine ICU and renamed as MICU-1 to MICU-8.
The old H1N1 ward, the new medicine ICU, and the Sethia ICU have been allocated to emergency medicine department and renamed as EMD ward 2, EMD ICU-1 and EMD ICU-2. “The hospital has undergone changes for the benefit of the doctors, patients and staff, as it will make approach easy and people will not have to walk long distances. It is a measure taken to decongest the hospital,” said Dr Pradeep Sharma, additional superintendent of the hospital.
The male ward, the female ward, the day care ward, and the palliative care ward have been allocated to ENT ward and renamed as ENT-1 to ENT-4. The radiotherapy ICU will now be ENT ICU.
