Teachers: Ru Vc: Teachers Should Handle Classes Along With Administrative Duties | Jaipur News
Jaipur: In a directive to teachers, the vice-chancellor of University of Rajasthan instructed them to take classes along with completing administrative duties.
“It has been noticed that those teachers who have administrative duties, many times are not available in their classes, whereas the primary duty of a teacher is to teach. All teachers are expected to carry out their administrative duties simultaneously with teaching assignments allotted to them,” states a letter written by Prof Alpana Kateja, vice-chancellor, RU.
The VC said that classes are taking place regularly and this is a general direction for the teachers. “Classes are taking place in colleges, but some teachers also have administrative responsibilities. This is a general directive issued to everyone as our focus is that classroom education should not be disturbed,” said Kateja.
In the university, as some teachers are preparing to stand in the upcoming assembly elections, student bodies have expressed doubts over completion of syllabus, especially for the first-year students in the semester system under National Education Policy (NEP). Hushyar Singh Meena, national secretary of ABVP said, “Teachers are avoiding their primary task and preparing to contest elections. With no teachers around, who will take classes? There has been a delay already as the new system has been implemented.” tnn
