Jctsl Bus With 30 Passengers Catches Fire | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Another Jaipur City Service Limited (JCTSL) bus caught fire at Gandhi Nagar turning on Tonk Road on Sunday. This is the fourth incident in less than two weeks in which JCTSL bus broke down due to poor maintenance of the buses.
The incident occurred at around 9 am when the bus was travelling from Khor to RICCO, caught fire at Gandhi Nagar turning. More than 30 passengers were travelling in the bus who panicked but alighted from the bus safely. Fire brigade was called to douse fire.
Surprisingly, all the incidences of break down of buses happened with vehicles from Todi depot.
JCTSL Employees Union president Vipin Chaudhary said that this shows negligent attitude of the authorities and how they are unwilling to take action against the company responsible for maintenance.
“Authorities must answer the reason behind so many low-floor buses breaking down in less than two weeks. Clearly, the buses are not maintained and still the company responsible for it is not being pulled up. Tax payers money is wasted and government is not taking any action,” said Vipin.
TOI tried to contact JCTSL Managing Director Rajendra Kishan, but his phone wasn’t reachable.
A man died after he came under a JCTSL bus, which could not halt due to a malfunctioning of brake on June 14. Another bus tyre burst at Gandhi Nagar Mod on June 14 evening. Such incidents of bus malfunctioning have been on the rise in the city, depicting the pathetic conditions of these buses.
By next year, 100 out of 300 JCTSL buses will be scrapped but the impact of its poor conditions can already be seen. As per the contract, the buses will be scrapped if they have functioned 10 lakh kilometres or are 10-years old. After 100 buses are scrapped, authorities have to find a way to purchase new ones.
