Fairphone: Police Request People Not To Share Pratapgarh Video Clip | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The Pratapgarh police have issued a request for people not to share the video of a 21-year-old tribal woman being stripped and paraded by her former husband, as doing so violates her privacy.
SP (Pratapgarh) Amit Kumar informed TOI that the police have responded to individuals sharing the video of the woman on social media through comments. Additionally, he emphasized that sharing such videos is illegal.
“All prime accused were arrested and detained within 12 hours of the video coming to our notice. So far, 10 persons have been arrested and one is detained,” he said.
ADG (Crime) Dinesh MN said police initiated an investigation into the case despite the absence of any FIR. The incident occurred on July 31, and the video went viral on the late evening of the following Friday and the police acted swiftly when the matter came to their notice.
Dinesh emphasized that an early chargesheet will be filed in the case, stating, “We have a heinous crime monitoring unit (HCMU) under the CID. An additional SP (ASP) rank officer of the unit has been summoned from Udaipur. Along with the SP and IGP, I will also oversee the case on a day-to-day basis. A special public prosecutor will be engaged so that day-to-day hearings can begin in a fast-track court.”
Meanwhile, the village where the woman was paraded, and residents had gathered as spectators, saw many of them locking their homes and fleeing after leaving their cattle due to apprehensions of potential legal consequences.
“Some people may have become afraid, while others may be distant relatives of the accused. We have arrested all the prime suspects in the case, so those residents may have left on their own accord,” explained an official.
Sources further revealed that counselling sessions were ongoing for the woman, who is still recovering from the traumatizing events.
