Immersion: Pipeline Work To Affect Traffic On Jln Marg, Jhalana Bypass | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The flow of traffic at OTS crossing, considered the busiest crossing in Jaipur, and on a stretch of Jhalana Bypass is likely to be affected for about 10 days starting Wednesday as the public health and engineering department (PHED) would lay pipelines to augment water supply under the Bisalpur II project.

DCP Traffic Prahlad Singh Krishniya said a detailed plan for traffic diversions has been finalised for the period of PHED’s work on these roads. “We have made an elaborate plan of traffic diversion to ensure smooth flow of traffic during the period. We would make a formal announcement soon after getting clearance from the government,” Krishniya told TOI.
PHED superintendent engineer (project) Satish Jain, who is overseeing this work, said pipelines would be laid under Sansthan Path from OTS crossing up to Jhalana Bypass. “Pipelines will then be laid till the under-construction pumphouse adjacent to Geological Survey of India (GSI) building on Jhalana Bypass,” he added.

On Monday afternoon, PHED officials held meetings with the traffic department of Jaipur Commissionerate and shared their execution plans for the pipeline laying work. PHED had got the green signal from Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) for this work in a recent coordination meeting of officials of the two organisations.
The laying of pipelines would enhance water supply to the city, said PHED officials. Under the Bisalpur II project, the department has augmented the Brahmapuri pumphouse to supply additional water to residents of parts of the Walled City and to several localities in Kho Nagoriyan area. To supply additional water from the Balawala storage facility in Sanganer to the Bhrahmapuri pumphouse, PHED is constructing an intermediate pump house at Jhalana Bypass.
“Work on laying of pipelines from this under-construction pumphouse to the Brahmapuri pumphouse was completed in April and May. During this period, we were not allowed to carry out work on this stretch owing to a series of VVIP movements and inauguration of Rajasthan International Centre. We would complete it now,” said a PHED official.
