JJS: JJS to host record number of booths this year | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The country’s largest showpiece gem and jewellery exhibition for domestic retailers got bigger this year as it will host over 1,100 booths displaying and selling gemstones, jewellery, costume, and silver articles.
Organisers said the four-day Jaipur Jewellery Show (JJS) that starts from December 22 is expecting more than 8,000 trade buyers and 50,000 domestic and international visitors.
“Nearly 1,000 top retailers of the country have confirmed their participation. They have been visiting the event every year as they want regular supply of merchandise for retailing,” said Rajeev Jain, convener of the show. Emeralds will be the theme of the event which has become popular as December show. “To promote emeralds, a group of 15 members has been formed with Gemfields as the promotion partner. We have planned a lot of activities to around the theme,” said Vimal Chand Surana, chairman of JJS.
Listed on the annual event calendar of the state tourism department, JJS is also looked up to by the individual buyers. “People from cities like Delhi and Mumbai come and make wedding purchases. We have done promotions in the national capital to attract buyers,” said Ajay Kala, spokesperson of JJS.
In order to push design aesthetics and compete with the global trends, the organisers have instituted a design festival alongside the event. The focus of the design festival this year will be on the role of technology and its impact on the gem and jewellery industry.
Around eight designing institutes will showcase their creative designs during the festival, said Jain.
