JAIPUR: Bikaner BJP MP Arjun Ram Meghwal (70), a former IAS officer, took over as the new Union law minister on Thursday.
In July 2020, while serving as a junior union minister for heavy industries and parliamentary affairs, Meghwal garnered significant media attention when he posted a video on social media that claimed a specific brand of papad possessed a cure for coronavirus.
Meghwal is a three-time MP and entered politics in 2009 after resigning from the IAS. He was elected from Bikaner and was honoured with the Best Parliamentarian Award in 2013. Meghwal hails from the weaving community who was recognised as a diligent bureaucrat and later became a popular politician.
